Blacks Take Home The Gold: Winners At The Golden Globe This Year

These past couple of years have certainly made life different for everyone. Award shows are no different. Instead of walking the red carpet as usual. The stars are walking to their living rooms and watching from home just like everyone else. This year things are looking up for black creators and actors as several of them took home awards. Here is a list of winners from the award show.

The animated film, Soul won for Best Original Score as well as Best Animated Motion Picture. Certainly, a deserved win for this cute, animated tale.

Actor Daniel Kaluuya won for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Fred Hampton in the newly released film, Judas & The Black Messiah. Although, there was a technical glitch during his acceptance speech. Kaluuya was able to return on screen to finish his speech. But not before he was able to get in a few words, “You played me, man!”

Chadwick Boseman snagged the posthumous award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his role in the film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Which he co-starred in alongside Viola Davis and Glynn Turman.

Two notable wins for the night were Andra Day for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for the film, The United States vs. Billie Holiday. As well as John Boyega for winning, Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture made for Television for “Small Axe.”
