Livin La Vida Santos
Ok people, I’ve been following this story for a minute. Roc Nation, which is Jay-Z’s company, has launched Roc Nation Latino. This will be a branch within Roc Nation devoted to the development and promotion of Latin artists in the US and globally. After four years, Jay-Z decided to name Latin heartthrob and superstar Romeo Santos as CEO. Santos will maintain his current record deal with Sony but will run Roc Nation Latino with his current manager as President. Let me tell you why this is such a big deal. Now I know many of you and still sipping on your Lemonade when it comes to Jay-Z right now BUT this is SOOOOOOO brilliant. I feel that Latin artists don’t get the recognition they deserve,
especially in the US. Latin music is so rich and soulful, not to mention makes you want to get up out of your seat and bust out with the salsa. Why not give Latin artists a bigger platform to spread their culture? I mean we’ve had some pretty dope Latin artists come and take over the music industry. I’m talking Debarge, my gurllll Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine YASSSSS!!! The late, gorgeous Selena, my boo for life Ricky Martin (I still have the single Livin La Vida Loca on cassette, don’t play), Enrique Iglesias, YAS, YAS. Of course the sultry Shakira, Angie Martinez, Paula DeAnda, Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera and my BFF in my head Jennifer Lopez. I’m super excited to see the gifted new Latin explosion that’s coming up with Roc Nation Latino. I love Latin music, whether it’s in English or Spanish it’s AMAZING!!!! Don’t even get me started on the reggaetton artists!!! Whhaaatttt!!! Kudos to Jay-Z and congratulations to Romeo!! I see you Papi.
