The Akeelah and The Bee and True Jackson, VP star will soon be joining the likes of Wendy Williams, Queen Latifah and Tamera Mowry with her own talk show entitled, “Just Keke,” or “The Keke Palmer Project.” The show is set to air for a four week run this summer, starting June 30. Airing every weekday, Palmer will discuss topics related to her age group, such as Fashion, pop culture, social issues, celebrity interviews and “on the street” segments.
“There’s never been a show out covering my age group,” she says. Palmer got her debut in the TV/Film world at the age of 12 when she played the title role of Akeelah and The Bee alongside Laurence Fishburne, then starred in her own Nickelodeon show, True Jackson,VP. She is now set to play in the Drew Barrymore-produced horror film, Animal. As well as a film produced by Queen Latifah and a Indie film that premiered at the Sundance festival.
With a huge Twitter following, Palmer says she loves to post quotes that motivate her doing times when she goes through her most frustrating moments and her followers responded rather postively. It gave her a way to connect with them and engage in dialogue. The new Keke Palmer show is set to be produced by famous TV judge, Greg Mathis.
While this is the only show that caters to young adults in their 20s Palmer may have hit the showtime jackpot with BET. Only time will tell how the ratings will be, but for an African American young lady to be doing this at the age of 20 she is certainly on the right track.
